Die Kombination der Wiedergabe von Mpeg 4 Dateien eines MTK 1389 Players in Verbindung mit der Wiedergabe über einen Faroudja 2310 mit DCDi offenbart, wie schon beim Vorgänger, faszinierende Möglichkeiten. Der Oppo spielt hier seine MTK 1389-Karte mit sehr hoher Kompatibilität und unkompliziertem Handling aus .Die GMC-Schwäche des Vorgängers hat BBK beim 981H ausgebügelt.

Die Darstellung der Mpeg4-Dateien gelingt, auch dank des hervorragenden Deinterlacing, sehr überzeugend, Lebensechte Farben, absolute Rauschfreiheit und ein Artefaktfreies Bild garantieren die Filter des Faroudja.

Der MTK-Chipsatz zoomt die Files automatisch auf Bildschirmbreite, wobei er es mit mit dem Overscan manchmal ein wenig übertreibt.

Der Oppo kann auch Mpeg 1&2 Files von DVD abspielen. Dies macht er MTK-typisch in guter Qualität mit praktikablem Handling. Er scheitert erst an fehlerhaften Transport-Streams, die er zwar, umbenannt in .mpg, abspielt, die aber keine zu hohe Fehlerrate aufweisen dürfen.

Der Oppo nervt durch die, im Kontext schon beschriebene, kurzzeitige Abschaltung des Bullet6 HDMI bei Aktivierung des File-Browsers und beim Start der Files.
